On Saturday, I decided to pop by Comptoir Libanais as I fancied the jumbo shrimp they had as this weekend was my last weekend of pescatarian eating before I head back to being veggie. Turns out they took that off the menu. Sigh. I decided instead that there was no time like the present and had a falafel and some potatoes. I’ve had their Batata Harra and it was amazing. I had to make my version of this but with sweet potato (better for you) and one new potato I had lurking about. So here’s what I did.
Ingredients
1 white sweet potato
1 new potato
Extra virgin olive oil
Toasted sesame oil
1/4 tsp pepper flakes, add according to taste
1/2 scotch bonnet, according to taste
1 garlic clove, smoked
Coriander
Spring onion, for garnish

Instructions
Peel, wash and dice the sweet potato and new potato. Coat them in olive oil and a drop of toasted sesame oil for the flavour and then pop them on some foil on a baking tray. Place in the oven at 200°C. While you wait I chop the coriander, pepper and garlic and put in a bowl big enough to add the potatoes. Feel free to use less pepper because half a scotch bonnet is pretty fiery especially if you incorporate the seeds. I like things hot though so it was fine for me 🙂
After about 30 mins or when the potatoes are done, depending on how big your dices are, remove from the oven and mix with the herbs and spices. I was distracted by the X-Factor and left mine in for a bit too long. I blame that beautiful Josh Daniel and Davide Papasidero and his wing malfunction. I was slightly sorry for him but mostly not [chuckle] 😂
Otherwise, that’s as simple as it gets.

I served mine with a poached egg. Enjoy.
